Hi again. Well if it ends up to much hasle, then I may just put down bark.
If i put down bark, do I need some kind of sub base or can I just place it on mud?
I will dig down about 5 inches.
Could I use limestones or would that be good for a sub base? http://www.wickes.co.uk/20mm-Limestone-Chippings/invt/154449
Thanks again.

I could but do I really need to if you place bark down there. Would that not stop weeds growing anyway?
I just wanted to know if I really need a sub base for bark or not.
If i put down lime stone chippings, one will it be safe and two, will I still need a sub base.

Thanks.
Well I don't think I need any edging, as the earth is rock hard.
The only thing not sure about, is the affect of bark on the rest of the pavment, slabs. would I need to fabric to stop it rotting away at it?
The other problem is with MOT1. I can't buy it in smaller bags or packs. I don't need a massive sack like here in wickes http://www.wickes.co.uk/Granular-Sub-Base-MOT1/invt/224665

fabric will stop the weeds.
on the mot type1, buy the big bag and bin/keep/store the rest as it will be a lot cheaper.

I would if I could but I have nowhere to store it. My garden is only small and I would have no other use for it after that.
So if anyone knows where to get a smaller bag, please post links.

Thanks Mikey_C forgot about that. I was getting confused with this so called MOT1. As that did not say MOT1, thought is was not right.
Anyway I had a futher did down and it looks like it's just clay, or clay and sand.

Is clay a problem? or can I still lay a sub base then bark on to of that?
