I am putting a flag on edge to act as a low level retainer, I am planning on back filling behind them with concrete, once the bedding and initial haunch is in, I may have to come back to the job to do the back fill, I was thinking as I have some left over should I put some vertical rebar between the initial concrete and the second top up?

if so when and how do put it in, I have a recollection that you should push bar into concrete because it pushes aggregate out the way and doesn't bond so well, if push it into the ground first the bar will be poking out the bottom of the crete, and third option is to try and suspend it whilst pouring the crete which is going awkward.

might take a photo of the area and add later today if I get a chance.
