I have been approached by a London hospital to undertake landscaping works to a property adjacent the highway. The work involves landscaping & excavation works to the rear of the property and then bringing all materials in and out through the building. At this stage I am costing the project to see if they will have the funds for the project to go ahead. The problem I have at this stage is the main road on the front has no loading/waiting restrictions and is a main road Does anyone have experience in obtaining the necessary consents as I seam to be passed from dept to dept Highways say apply to Parking for suspension to the no loading restriction. Parking says I should apply to highways for a road closure as its no loading :-/ Does anyone have similar experience in this situation and any advice as to the best way to approach this?

This should all have been sorted out in the planing stages before permission is given. You will be charged Rates on any skips etc that are placed on a public highway.

could be that a lot of unloading etc; will probably be done at night, as you might get a road closure easier. All you can do is keep asking the powers that be for permits, each trust has different rulongs.

Ask the hospital, they will have had to solve it in the past for other work. A request from their legal department may get acted on a lot quicker then anything you can do.
