Would, in any circumstances, a dehumidifier weaken a new concrete slab, or cause any defects in any way?
I have never heard of this, but someone today reckons it can weaken the concrete.
I always thought they were advised to help dry concrete floors.
Is this guy correct or just trying to be a smart arse?

we have always been told to let new concrete and screeds dry naturally
the thought being that if it dries too quick the cement wont be fully cured
however waiting 2 weeks for a floor to dry can ruin a job,so heaters and dehumidifiers it is

a structural engineer would say so, but as long as you arent massively force drying it, it should be ok. a 100mm floor takes 3 months to cure properly i think i was once told...

yeah, to fully dry a floor naturaly, isnt the rule 1 day for every 1mm depth.
And, yeah, im not talking about introducing heat to accelerate the curing or drying time. Just a dehumidifier.
Cheers

When laying the screed you can reduce the "drying" time using one of the following:
RonaScreed 8 Day
RonaScreed 4 Day
RonaScreed 1 Day
When you're drumming your fingers on the desk waiting for the screed to dry you can apply a surface damp proof membrane:
Monoprufe DPM
RonaScreed DPM
