We will have to get a few hedge/tree stamps removed from an area we will have paved.

How should they be removed so as not to give the person doing the paving problems?

Tree STUMPS are usually completely removed by means of an excavator. Do not leave any part of it in place.

As Dave says I would add that it's best to cut the tree's down first leaving 2-3ft of the stump so the digger can get a good purchase on it to lever them out.

any wood left underneath will eventually rot and lead to sinking in that area.

Does a stumps grinder do a good enough job, or would it be best to get the â€œhedge removerâ€� to leave 2-3ft of the stump so the landscaper can remove the stumps at the same time as digger out the soil.

Leave 2-3ft of stump and remove with a digger. Leaving a bit of stump is handy for leverage or for tying on to a towbar :laugh:

We had a guy working for us once who claimed to be the worlds greatest landscaper. Unfortunately he failed a very simpled test. The tree test. I asked him to cut one down and he cut it off at the base.

We had a landcsaper working for us who claimed to be the greatest landscaper in the world. Unfortunately he failed a very simple test, the tree test. Asked him to cut one down and he cut it off right at the base.

Does my nut in when people phone me to remove a stump after they have made a hash of it by cutting it at the base, trying to poison it with round up and wondering why it isn't dying.
