Alright all.
Thinking ahead of our ongoing extension, we are very heavy users of our current gas bbq which has given us nine years of great food (it's all in the cooking really of course...!)

What are the forum's thoughts on building-in a gas bbq? My local guy has kind-of poo-poo'd the idea but I was thinking of some blockwork or the likes, rendered to match the house, then maybe a granite or tiled/flagged top with the gas bottle hidden behind a wee door underneath, along with my tongs etc, with a prep area either side? I would drytreat â„¢ if we used sandstone for the grease of course.
It would maybe go on the short wall here so its away from the window frame.

I don't want to get into the charcoal vs gas debate, I will never go back to charcoal. Interested in the differences between my current type and the flat-plate type of bbq though from other's experience.

Half hot plate half grill is the way forward but if you love cooking on the barbie and don't mind building one I'd go for a BBQ island/bar if you slap a mini fridge in nice stools around a granite work top, I know someone who runs a BBQ island company I'll try and get some pics for you to copy. I would think it best practice to install a good quality specific BBQ for islands!

P.s. Top tip! Use unsweetened apple juice in a spray bottle to keep all you meats moist and slightly caramelised ... You won't believe how stunning it taste's..... keep it a secret tho!

If that is a leisure gas /patio gas bottle get rid of it, buy a normal propane regulator for 5 to 10 pounds and get propane gas for a lot cheaper. It is propane in the leisure gas bottles but they charge you a lot more for it and for the bottle because they think you won't buy much gas. Or just connect it to the mains like my brother in law's Dad did, but they're in Australia and BBQ as much as we deep fry here in Scotland :D

I must admit that when we used propane it did seem to burn hotter than the patio gas. I do prefer the p/g quick click regulators, and the bottle fill gauge is a real boon. Same price where I am.

Wow Haggi some of those are lovely.

I think pic 22 and 23 are at Pennyhill Park, just about a mile from me. Brother in law got married and we had the drinks reception just outside those french doors. England Rugby team use it as their base for games from Twickenham.

I wonder what make of grills they use?

Understand LLL that shit has no actual apples in it!!! mainly battery acid and meths as my distinguished pallet suggests!
I had that tip off the world champion best BBQ'er ( yes there is a world championship and I would love to be a judge)

i have a big char broil bbq with battery spit roast hehe, bbq'd for 100 ppl on saturday well me and a mate did he was on charcoal me on gas

costco have some big outside kitchen style ones but they arent cheap, just disconnet from fame and you'll be fine. i'd get a bigger one though mines twice as big as that one of yours hehe,

i'll stick some pics on later when i get home, i'll try the apple juice, i have a water spray to douse any fat fires etc
