there is a GPO marker post on the pavement / garden boundary of a house I am looking at buying. It is in the way of where I would like to put a drive.

Does anyone know who I need to contact to see if it can be moved / is still in use?

Does anyone have any experience of these?

Many thanks

i was under the impression these do nothing nowadays? im not 100% on that so you should check but i wouldnt be suprised if you can easily get confirmation and then remove it. bear in mind you are potential changing the footpath and could legally be liable for any damage or injury caused if you do remove it and make a repair. at least thats the official take. ;)

I doubt if the post is doing much, they have electronic cable locators nowadays.
I'd be very suprised if you get easy confirmation from BT.
When you ring up you'll get answered by India and get nowhere.
If you're luckily enough to get through to someone who knows what you're talking about they'll want a small fortune just for a visit. I doubt if they will allow you to touch their stuff and will insist on doing the work themselves costing another small fortune.
The easy option is to arrange for someone to accidently break it and keep quiet.

I used to work for BT and trust me the markers do nothing and they will charge you a fortune to move if you can ever get them to answer you best do as suggested and back into to it with a lorry!
