My ongoing DIY project...

100m2 driveway- went to a lot of effort getting my levels etc, then put down geotextile and 250mm Type 1, then compacted it all...

Then went to sleep for the winter... Finally woke up and started back, ony to find mother nature has moved into my type 1 and I have weeds everywhere.

Is ther some product out there that I can spray and confidently forget about, before my grit sand and block paving go down?

Am I gonna need to put down more geotextile between my type1 and sand?

Thanks again

-Michael.

Good old Sodium Chlorate would have been the ticket but the numpties decided it wasn't good and banned it.

Pull up as much as you can and spray with Roundup is the best you can hope for nowadays, sadly.

I know its not necessary (especially as I have it under my type1), but a layer of Terram or similar should stop the weeds (seeded in the type 1, not below it) sprouting through my freshly laid monoblock? Shouldnt do any harm should it?

I just shudder at how much it would cost for enough Roundup to properly dose a 100m2 area with no guarantee of success.

Dammit- shoulda got my finger out and finished it last year. Hate it when the missus is right :-)

Thanks again.

terram below the sand will do no good at all, sand wont compact tight on it, weeds wont grow up through blockpaving,99% of weeds on blockpaving come from seeds growing in the the muck in the joints from car tyres MSH :)

Terram won't stop weed growth, they will still come up through it.

Best way I have found is to tackle it from above. As soon as you have laid, get a good quality sealer (or in your case , after a good scrub) , it wont stop the weeds, but will reduce them by 80%.
