Hi,
I am hoping to get some advice.
I have bought a holiday lodge (9M x 6M) to put in my garden as additional living/storage space for 3 - 4 years. This is basically 2 static caravans bolted together. I have got planning permission and was going to get a design for the concrete base and two retaining walls. The quote from the structural enginner for this design only seemed quite steep at £1500 +vat so I am getting some more.
However, it has been suggested that I could use blacktop for the area instead of a concrete base and simplly 'park' the lodge on this with some anchors. I have taken this a step further and wondered if type 1 hardcore might be sufficent with some steel spreader plates.
This is only going to be used for 3 - 4 years so I dont want to spend a fortune.
Does anyone have an tips?
Also, do I need a structural engineer for a retaining wall or could a competent brick layer do this?
Thanks
