I got home today to find a huge hole had been dug, and a new water meter installed, all the spoil left in a heap on the drive, the hole not filled int, barriers everywhere, and my lovely tarmac drive ruined
but more to the point, I never know anything about it!
Do they have the right to just turn up and do it?
My neighbours thought i knew, and said it was only spray marked yesterday, so were surprised about how quick it happened.
I discovered a leaflet through the door saying the work had been done, but its a bit late then!!

If the work is on the footpath then they don't have to give notice. But they should not be touching your driveway without notice nor should they dump spoil on it either..

I complained when they done outside mine about the concrete finish around the lids "which was chit" and they had the men back that afternoon to do it properly.

this is now beyond a joke
I came home today, hole still there, no sign of any repairs.
Phoned them, and was told " we have three working days to fill it back in",
So i have to wait till Tuesday.
they said i didn't get notice as it was "an emergency"
If there was a leak, i would have seen it.
They also slipped up and said it was down to be reinstated the same day!
I will get some photies together!

i'd be tempted not to pay bill and wait fir them to call me. then tell them it was an "emergency" you needed the money for something else, then tell you got three days to before you have to put the money in their account!!! won't help, but if it was me it would make me feel better!!!

Trouble is, you'd soon get referred to a debt recovery agency and a black mark against you!

This is the offending hole!
Even better than this, a friend of the wife's had this done. they dug up the drive in front of the garage, and her car was in there. She had to get taxi's to work each day. Idiots!

is it actually your property or is it the end of the cul de sac you live in dan?
I wouldnt have thought they could go onto private property without some prior notification
FTR my water bill is cheaper with a meter

might as well have the old stop cock housing cover out of that for the next trip to the scrap yard, then based on the exchange system you can add some off your waste to their pile.
is it me or does that puddle at the bottom of the hole imply that it leaks

some interesting questions there guys
firstly, the tarmac appears to be laid on the soil, but there is a small amount of stone(road planings by the looks of it) . my drive has one or two dips in it, so i guess it wasn't laid very well.
lll, this is my drive. Its a private road too, and it is where i normally park the truck.
There is water around the meter. no leak was found (i was on a meter before, so i have no issue there) they say its ground water
Today, they have grabbed the spoil, but left the hole unfilled.
they have marked my neighbours now as they think his is leaking (they don't know)
He is spitting feathers, and is considering parking a car across it and leaving it there.
next to my hole is a "washout" which they have taken the lid off. Wonder whats next.
its the end result i am worried about . what sort of finish to the tarmac will there be!?
