Right lads I'm moving into my new house next month it's an old stone rubble built job with 2 ft thick solid walls. First jobs are insulation and double glazing. My question is does anyone have any tips or experience with regards insulating the interior or exterior walls. Internally some of the doors would need moved if we drylined and some rooms are very small. The eaves have a decent overhang and the gutter isn't flush with the wall. It's harled wall but has so many coats of paint it's nearly smooth. Any thoughs or suggestions appreciated.
Cheers

Worked on a job few years back where the whole building was demolished but facade remained. When they came to dryline they used stud leaving a void and then insulated the stud with celotex panels and then stapled on a sheet barrier before they fixed the boards.

thermal board is quite good pablo like plasterboard with polystyrene on the back
TBH though if you are moving into an old place with small rooms get thick curtains and draft excluders
its going to be pants insulation wise and there is not a lot you can do about that, except crack the heating up
cheers LLL

Thats something thats in the back of my mind LLL to double glaze and dryline will cost sh#tloads and thats a lot of tanks of oil. I wonder whether cost wise it will be cheaper long term to do nothing. Was hoping someone had experience of external lining I will be getting people in for quotes but I like to have some knowledge so I know when I'm being stroked. Gonna stick a stove into it I have an endless supply of seasoned hardwood. I got the epc today it's terrible.

my folks live in an old house (built 1830). Tony's right, all you can do is turn up the heating.
