Does anyone use ready mixed mortar which is delivered in what looks like half cube bins? Just seen a few bins on a site and wondered if its cheaper than mixing on site?

Way cheaper. A cube comes in at about £100 - £120. Even colouration, guaranteed strength, about £30-40 a tub. 500 bricks or a pack to a tub. Retarded to last till the next delivery (24 hours) no mess. Cant fault it really.

No fackin about

If you're in Preston Premier Mortars 01706 282755 at Ramsbottom is an option. There may be others

The brickies that did my garage walls got me to order this.
It came as 1.2m3 - this was poured into 4 tubs with 1/3rd m3 in each.
Fortunately I've a tractor with forks on the back so I could move the tubs up to the garage - ground like a bog so driver wouldn't go over it.
The problem came towards the end when they wanted a half mix and the suppliers would only supply 1.2m3 as a minimum drop.
That put the costs up a bit!
£113 per m3 = £135 per 1.2m3 delivered incl vat

Yep a cube is a usual minimum drop. I read a post on here that someone was catering for DIY'ers and would drop down to a tub.
Have a search on the forum, it was in the last couple of months.

If you need less surely you could collect it yourself. The only problem I've found is that it can sometimes go off a bit too slow meaning you can't build too high with it till it does. It can sometimes be a bit sloppy for pointing up at the end of the day to. I can buy it in 8/24/&36hr. It's also handy for small paving jobs if you get them to switch the sand. I use it when space is tight and don't have a suitable place to mix or I'm short of staff.
