One for Sean and Dave L, me thinks.....

Tendering for a job with 30+ manholes, i think the tender template must be from the early 70s as there has been no consideration for modern repair methods.

Anyhow all manholes are brick built and need raking out and repointing with defective bricks being replaced, new benching and channels etc......

We would normally grind out the mortar but with the old H & S we will be looking at some kind of dust damping/removing kit.

Is there a piece of kit like those units they have for grinding out chases for sparkes/plumbers, by the time we have a man, gas detector, ppe, harness etc in the chamber... there wont be much room left for any other gear......

And yes i have considered a plugging chisel and lump hammer, but we are on a time limit to finish the job and i need something quick but safe.

Will something like this do the job? Or it that what you're using already?

Thanks for that.

Thats the kind of thing i was looking for, has anyone any experience of them.

I suppose i need to know roughly how fast these things can move (depending on the mix i know) are they durable, i would think hiring would be the way forward.

I can still see a guardless grinder being used in the corners though ???

Yep, I can't think of a better tool than that that ginder attachment to do wth job.

Not a pleasant job at all, both from a drains point of view and the dust that will be generated.

30 MH's - that's a lot of work Joe!
