Been asked to install a low concrete firebowl approx 1m dia. The surface is to be totally flat but with a 500mm dia depression sculpted from the centre of it so a fire can be lit in it in the garden. Building the thing isn't a problem but would normal concrete do or should I be using a special fire resistant mix. Also wondered should i use a sand cement mix instead of a concrete mix so no aggregate becomes exposed. Thoughts and ideas very welcome cheers.

This has come up before and, from memory, I think the advice was to ask the ready mix supplier for a recommended mix. There's a special refractory cement that can be used - I think....
