Hi Guys,

Got all my new drainage lines installed and signed off by the BCO on Friday, so thanks to everyone.

I may not of asked many questions on here, but by reading these forums and the advise on the main website, I have managed to do something which I had never tackled before, and received a compliment from the BCO about how good a job I had done. All thanks to you guys!!!!!

Anyway, I now have a question if you don't mind.

I backfilled my trenches over the weekend, but what I need to know is, how long do I have to wait before you think it is safe to drive a mini digger over the ground?

I obviously don't want to disturb anything, so just wondered what you thought.

Right away! We often use the track on the excavator to 'smooth' the ground in and around a trench backfill.

As dave says. Although the back of the bucket is a poor substitute for proper compaction, especially with a mini digger.

Yes - it would depend what the future intended use of the reinstated area was to the methods that I would use - but in general, be it a garden or soft-landscaped area, the digger bucket or tracks would be sufficient - coupled with a decent surcharge of material on top to cope with any settlement.
