The job I'm doing at the moment was designed by a garden designer who has specified Everedge for the fancy borders.
Does anyone have any experience of using this stuff? It comes in 1m lengths and I've got to create all sorts of shapes with it.

Rich, I seen this stuff in Dobbies garden centre the other day, looked fairly flexible but dont know how it would be to install or how it would last or how it would be in the frost?
Seems a good idea and may work very well, but I dont think I would by it for my own garden.

dont try to bang em in with a hammer,as the spikes will just bend,(unless its v.soft ground with no stone)you have to excavate,as you would a normal kerb and set in place with either pins or a dod of concrete, before you backfill to levels. otherwise no other probs.

Thanks. This ground is harder than dreadnought full of anvils. I'd better get digging!

I've been doing some consultancy work for EverEdge, including an installation guide. You can actually get 2.5m 'professional' lengths that work out a bit cheaper.
Flexibility depends on thickness, but the standard 1.6mm is very easy to mould to reflex curves (90-180 degrees) if necessary.
If working in really hard ground, there is an alternative version that uses 10mm rebar as the stakes rather than the standard tines. I reckon it's easiest to dig a narrow trench to depth of edging plus 50mm, and lay the EverEdge into a bed/haunch of lean-mix concrete rather than waste time trying to drive those tines.
I know the company is looking for installations to photo-document, Rich: would your project be suitable?

Probably would - it's a series of arc'ed borders that describe part of a 12m diameter circle in the lawn. I already offered him the photies. Nice bloke and very helpful.
He advised not to use the 2.5m lengths as they only come in the 2.5mm steel which would be too thick for some of the forms I've got to put in.
With you on the digging out, by the way. Not that it's a problem at the moment, too wet to do anything in that part of the garden!
