I am planning on building my Front wall this month but have a few questions, I am now after advise from you guys building this out of 100mm dense concrete blocks, however it is going to to be 3 blocks high with pillars, between pillars there will be steel decrative steel work.
Q1 what is the min/max distance to install the pillars?
Thanks in advance for your advise

well only a structural engineer can tell you definitively ,but perhaps you are buying the railings in?
if so this will govern your pier sizes, they are normally about 1800 long
i have done piers 4M apart but the railings were heavy duty (16mm bar)
so all in all depends how long the wall is
say its is 5 m long i would go for 4 piers and 3 railings
its all about balance
cheers hope this helps

Thanks LLL
Wall is 11 metres long, 750mm high The pillars will be another 750mm high & the metal work I am making in my work shop, this will be made from 30mm x 6mm flat with 10mm dowels. I have looked and theoreticly placed pillars at 2200mm apart thus giving 5 pillars. this front wall however will have a return wall running at 90 degrees towards the house.

i know when i have done them its better to drill a hole and use chemifix and put a steel plug in to the hole, then weld or bolt the railing to that
if you try and build them in it can cause problems with expansion and stuff

Yep sorry didnt make myself clear, will use chemfix to fix into the wall just fabricating these up on bench in workshop, then having them galvanised & powder coated. Maintenance free hopefully.

i prefer stove enamelling to galv and powder coat
seen a lot of powder coated stuff rust to pieces

Am not a great mathematician, but 5 pillars, 2200mm apart would give a total length of 11m, however wouldn't allow any thickness for the pillars themselves? ???

That would be the pillar centres that are 2.2 apart.
