I'm laying a concrete shed base for a heavy duty 10 x 8 shed I just wondered is a c20 mix strong enough for the base?

No - Use C30

Thaks for that, so is this ok 50mm of type1, damp proof then 100mm of c30 cement?

Also should the base be bigger than the shed or can it be exactly the same size?

Sorry but are you saying use c30 as this is a heavy duty shed would a c20 mix be fine for a normal shed

No - C20 is strongish concrete for general support purposes. C30 is even stronger and much better when you want to construct what will be an exposed slab.
