The edge of my patio area in the back garden is starting to break up. I have realised that this is because my neighbours bordering garden is about 10 inches lower than mine. I have decided that I will did a trench along the edge of my patio and fill it with either concrete or old bricks and cement.
It seems to me that bricks and cement would be the cheaper option, can anyone see any problems with that method.
Is it OK to pour cement directly onto the soil along the base of the trench.

Any advice would be appreciated.

dig down to sub base concrete a footing about a foot wide and build a low retaining wall with bricks. you may have to take up patio edge temporarily and relay after. broken bricks and cement ? nah.

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is the sub-base, is that a natural level, or should it have been put in when the patio was constructed, im not sure what I'm looking for.
