Thanks for looking,
I am looking to excavate about 7m3 of soil (55m2 x 120mm deep). What is the best way of doing this - excavtor or spade and barrow, and what sort of price would i pay for someone to do it for me, including the removal of the soil.
TIA

well tia that 7m3 when you excavate it becomes 14m2!! soil bulks as it is dug out as it becomes loose
so you are looking at via fork shovel and barrow 2 men 2 days plus 2 skips = approx £ 700
a machine would do it in a day (if there is access) would cost about £250 inc operator, and 1 grab lorry full of soil would be approx £200 if you have somewhere the machine guy can drag the dirt to
so you are looking at maybe £450-500 using machines
but remember machines can cause collateral damge to shrubs ,patios, paths etc

Machine it is then thanks.
Collateral damage is not an issue - the missus bought a german shepard wo has dug upo the back garden and destroyed it, hence the need for excation and then concreting it over.
Access is available down nextdoors drive.
I am based in cheshire - any references up this way for anyone?
