Hi, I'm James, New to the site, have been browsing a little bit as I'm currently having the dreaded PIC done on our large driveway. (It's okay we have seen worked carried out by the firm who are doing it, that has been down for 3 years, and it still looks good)

Having had our old front wall knocked down, and fencing being put in, i wonder if i wanted to fit double gates to the fencing, how could I anchor the gates open, without drilling or making holes in the PIC driveway?

(I don't want to have bolts going into the PIC, if you see what I mean....)

Thx

James

We done a job about 4 / 5 months ago and the client wanted the same, nothing was to be drilled into the drive. We settled on anchoring it to one of the fence posts, using a bar on the gate to reach to the post.

Sketch

Theres a highly technical drawing :p

Excellent - that's sorted that....... :) Thank you!

Fencing should be finished tomorrow, just waiting for the crete to go off overnight, and then we should be able to put the panels in :) Don't think the posts are going anywhere either, 20 inches deep LOL :)

how are you going to keep the gates still when closed if you arent going to drill into p i c? thought you would need to drill for a bolt. dont mean to be pedantic.

you could have stops put in the PIC at the footpath and at the extent of the gates, this would help
i wonder exactly what you are anchoring the gate hinges to??
you have to remember if a 13 yr old chav starts swinging on a 7 foot gate the mechanical advantage is increased .
i never hang gates on anything less than a 13 1/2" pier reinforced with steel and concrete
hope this helps
