Is it good practice to add lime to the sharp sand bedding layer when laying paving slabs (foot traffic only) slabs are fake natural stone (bradstone old town)
If so what sort of quantities and should the joints be any different?

You can add lime if you wish. It's not essential, and it works out slightly more expensive than using cement, but there's nowt wrong with using it if you so wish. For a patio area, something like a 6:1 mix would be ample, but most modern lime-based bedding materials include lime AND cement.

Thanks for the speedy response...
So, would it be ideal to add lime and portland cement to the bedding? It's only 11m2 so cost is not a real issue.
For filling the joints after I would like a very traditional look, rather than the sight of hard pointing I would like a more sandy kook but dont want it washing away, any ideas?

Lime and cement would be fine.
As for the jointing, have a look at Romex Easy
