I am a little confused. I wish to use slate in an area of my garden as a cover to make the gardening easier with stepping stones through as a path. However there seems to be a huge discrepancy in price between two main suppliers in my area.
The area to be covered is approximately 10m2 and I am going to put down infill to level the area off before finishing with slate. I have estimated I will need a one tonne bag of each.
One supplier has quoted £40 for 20mm to dust and £127.30 for the slate 20mm. The other, who I must say was less helpful, quoted £30 for scalpings and £65 for ungraded slate it looks up to 40mm plus from the sample I have seen.
Quite a difference in price but are we talking apples and apples and is the large size slate suitable for use as described.
