I wont bore you all with the details, if I was to say i have a bitch of a job at home on my hands. In order for me to budget and to save me looking like a complete muppet can I ask the following?
How much does Type 1 cost per tonne approx
I will be building a retaining wall out of the hollow concrete blocks (they look like a figure of eight) so I can fill in with concrete a re-bar after. What are these blocks called?
What is the minium level between ground level to DPC.
Cost of Budget block paving (supply only) per square metre
Cost of supply and install Tarmac per square metre.

Thanks
Mike

hardcore costs around £25 a ton, hollow blocks are known as breeze blocks where i come from, but they may be known as something else in your area, min level from ground to dpc is 150mm, never heard of budget block paving and tarmacing i do not know :)

Type 1 - 14-28 quid per tonne, plus VAST, depending on how much is bought and where you are.

Blocks - hollow walling block or hollow CMUs

Ground to DPC - this is probably the single most commonly stated "fact" on the entire website. it appears on dozens of pages, and in hundreds of posts to this forum! 150mm

Budget block paving - from 5 quid per square metre

Bitmac - small jobs have to be costed individually. It's only once you get above 150+m² that standard 'rates' can be applied. 10m² might cost 500 quid. 20m² might cost 500 quid. When contracting, we had a minimum charge for all bitmac work, and it didn't matter whether you had 1m² or 25m² - the minimum charge was 700 quid. This covered putting men on site, supplying all the expensive plant, providing an insulated wagon to deliver hot bitmac and having trhe men hanging around waiting for the materials to be delivered, plus "aggravation tax" for me being harassed with a job that was, literally, more trouble than it was worth.
