Can anyone give us a pointer were to find a detail to construct a water meter pit?
Were forming a car park at present, and the usual oversite about existing services has occured. We managed to overcome B.T, Gas, (mains electric cable still out standing).
Water pit at present is the pre formed fibre glass type. So once cut down, lid not work. :D . Tried thames water for a detail but 'whats a water meter pit' & 'whats a road gully' did not inspire confidence.

cheers all. Pepperday

A pit? All the water metres I've seen are fitted inside a vertical pipe that's around 225mm diameter. Would it not be possible to use raising pieces from an AC or IC?

Cheers for the input Mcc.
the pit itself is about 600 x 900.
In the end we dug around the existing, used the fibreglass as internal former, poured in concrete, and made up a couple coures of engineering bricks, job done. We're still waiting for a detail from the consultants though :D .
