Hi all,

I've a concrete base, from a previous garage, onto which I'm having installed a sectional garage. The installers won't continue though, as they say the base is uneven at one of the corners - drops away. Is it possible to level just this section of the base, or will the entire base requiring work ?. Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.

Note: I did read the posting below, where the installers used blocks to fill-in the uneven floors !. Now why couldn't mine ?.

You can easily level up one corner of the base. If it's only a minimal amount and there are concerns about it breaking up then you could completely re-concrete the base later (to lock the building down)

Thanks for reply. Would you use a levelling compound, or mix a batch of concrete to raise the corner ? I wouldn't have thought the compound had the strength to support the sectional garage ?

How much "levelling" do you need. Is it a few mm, or metres? We have levelling mortars, screeds and fine concretes which can be laid as thin as 6mm on to a sound concrete base ( when it's as thin as 6mm it must be bonded).

Have a look at Ronafix Data Sheet or call us and we'll be happy to help.

Hi - sorry for delay in responding, I've been away for a few days.

The base slopes from Right to Left, with the Bottom left hand corner nearly 2" lower than the top right corner. Whatever solution I go with, it needs to be strong enough to support the weight of the sectional garage and a car inside. At the moment, I'm leaning towards laying more concrete on top of the slab, and sloping the front to allow the car to enter.

If you use Ronafix mix design G this will be 1) stronger than an ordinary concrete mix, and 2) because it will be bonded to the base concrete, it will allow all the load imposed on it to be transferred and spread through into the concrete slab below.

In other words, bigger, better, stronger.

The mix for the concrete is cement, sharp sand, 10-5mm aggregate, Ronafix and water.

The mix for the bonding primer is Ronafix and cement.

The instructions are in the previous link for Ronafix Data Sheet.
