I'm building my concrete forms for a house foundation out of 2x6s. I plan to use these same 2x6 to build the house floors and walls with. I want to use soap and water on the 2x6s before I pour the forms so the concrete will release.
Is it safe to put a mild dish soap on the 2x6? Could this attract pest or cause mold by using soap on the 2x6s? I ask because the wood will be used to build my home.

You might need to explain what this "2x6" is for those of us not familiar with building work in California.

Personally, if I'm casting concrete against formwork, I'd rather use a quality, proven release agent rather than save a couple of quid by using old soap and consequently risk buggering-up all that concrete.

2x6 are wood (lumber) that is cut to 1.5 inches x 5.5 inches and 8 feet to 16 feet long. We use them as studs in walls and as floor joists if spans are less than 8'
