Hi,

Can somebody please tell me how to work out how I can calculate the following :

a/ the amount of Hardcore based on 6" depth and

b/ the amount of ready mixed contrete based on 4" that I would require for say a 12m x 8m Garage.

I have been advised that the overall cost to complete this work in full should be approx £60 per metre ?

Cheers.

1 - see this calculator

2 - why are you mixing measuring systems? you have a garage that is to be 12 metre by 8 metres, but you need it to be 4 inches thick? If you stick with metric units, it's helluva lot easier to figure out.... 12 metres by 8 metres by 100 millimetres (which is 0.1m)

12 x 8 x 0.1 = 9.6 m³

60 quid per square metre for concrete? Sounds expensive. You can get PIC for that sort of money.

One final point - you can't (or you shouldn't) cast a 12m x 8m slab as a single entity. It MUST have crack control joints otherwise it WILL fracture.
