Stretcher bond - Will this be strong enough?

I am in the process of planning a small retaining wall for my new patio. I intend to use a stretcher bond and incorporate piers at the end and two further ones along the length. The total length of the wall is 5.2m and the height will be just over 1m. Will stretcher bond be strong enough or do i need to consider a stronger bond?

English or English Garden Wall Bond would be better.
