I have a stucco house and am going to be installing a paver patio on the side of my home. I have read your explanations of a DPC and the 150mm starting line below this level...my question is do all houses have this line? I see no membrane lining but have found a line where the stucco stops and the concrete cinder blocks continue down into the ground. Is this my DPC? The concrete slab currently at the back of my house butts up right under this point. It is not 150 mm below this line. Also, there is some concrete sticking off the house below this line and it is preventing me from placing my pavers against the house. It is abnormal in shape and varies in areas of thickness. I can dig underneath it and find smooth cinder blocks again. Does this serve a purpose? Can I take this off the house and if so does it have to be sawed or can I chisel it off?

I see from your profile that you are in the USA. I have no knowledge of the building regulations in your country, and so I can't say whether your home has a DPC or not.

We do have a couple of US-based contractors that pop in to the Brew Cabin every week or so, but they usually read only the Block Paving section. It might be worth re-posting your query in there, and adding your location to the sub-title, in the hope of attracting their attention when they next visit.
