I am creating a new patio in the garden and you could say that I am a novice. A basic question – I need to create a step between the house and the patio. Can I lay the step blocks against the damp proof course – i.e. it would cover part of the damp proof course against the house? Would this create any problems as far as the damp proofing is concerned? I guess most steps would be laid that way – but I just want to be totally certain as I have read in your archives that the damp proof course is one of the most important criteria when laying flagstones.
Many thanks for your help.
