Volume = width x length x depth
width x length = 30 x 0.2 (depth) = 6 cubic metres
If the excavated spoil is clay and soil it will bulk up by any thing upto 40% which is 8.4 cubic metres

.... and you get around 4-4.5m³ of clay/soil into a typical Builders' Skip

Wot you again.
If you contact your local skip company and tell them how much you need to shift, they should be able to advise on the most suitable size of skip(s).
Skip capacity is usually measured in cubic metres / yards.

Try this: -
If you can imagine a box measuring 1 metre wide x 1 metre deep x 1 metre high it will hold exactly 1 cubic metre.

You will need 1 and a half skips m8, i just dug out twice that size and i filled 3 skips.

Use a skip filling dumper and a mini digger from the hire shops, i filled a skip a day with that combo and i was by myself too.

When you have been doing jobs like that all the time you can basically look at an area and tell how much u got to get rid off, it comes with experience.
