Sitting wall - Two half brick walls?

Other groundworks tasks, such as roads and footpaths, terracing, fencing, foundations, walls and brickwork, tools and plant.

hello-
I am designing a curved brick sitting wall (say, 380mm width)with a (concrete-based) flag coping (width of 400mm) Will two half-brick thick walls with occasional piers be stable enough? Filled with hardcore/rubble? They don't make butterfly ties that wide, do they?

Or should I do a block wall (double block wall?) with brick skins on either side?

As always, I want to keep the cost down, but it must be stable and long lasting. Children will undoubtably walk along the wall, family members will sit there for outdoor dining, etc.

I am grateful for any experienced suggestions.

Thanks,
ladysmantle :)

Assuming this will be no higher than around 500mm, just use two single skins. You could leave the centre hollow, or fill it with a concrete block, if you wish.

Personally, I'd build it 3 bricks wide (350mm)and not bother with any piers.

Thank you Tony. Yes, it is just under 500mm.

Sorry I haven't thanked you earlier, I was on holiday.

My fellow landscape design students and I have decided that you should be knighted for your selfless service, BTW.

They only ennoble British subjects, so as a son of Erin, I'll be spared that humiliation! :D
