I recently washed my car and put spray on turtle wax tyre black on the wheels, I then moved the car (putting it on my eighbours driveway) and realised that large black oily stains had appeared on my tarmac drive (and now my neighbours!!), I have jet washed the stains to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can either clean or cover the tarmac to remove the stains? Please Help!

We had a customer complaining about a very small amount of scuffing on his newish drive - he wasn't concerned about the four huge semi-circular marks left by this spray on tyre dressing!
How old are these driveways? Are they black or now faded to grey etc?
Either way, I think you've got to be very careful in whatever you do. As above, best to get the professionals in.

Just spray the rest of the drive the same colour

...or to extend Danensis's idea, re-coat the driveway with a bitumen recoating material, such as WatCo BlackTop, which is actually intended to re-black (or re-red) macadam rather than the Turtle Wax which is intended to re-black tyres.

My problem is similar. My best friend has moved in with me during a break up of her marriage (to a Tunisian 25 years her junior. It didn't last. He has all her money. Yes! I was surprised too!!)
Anyhow that's a whole different story.
Her car has been leaking small puddles of oil all over my tarmac drive. It's big. She parked in at least ten places over two days protesting that it was most definitely not coming from her car. We did the cardboard test. It was.
My large drive now now resembles the coat of one of those attractive German pointer dogs. Grey with black spots.
Any suggestions gents?
Would jet washing work?

I might be wrong but i dont think it will, diesel breaks down the bitchumen in the tarmac and damages it permanantley, maybe oil does the same thing?
If not then i think a good detergent and a heated pressure washer would do the trick.

If it is a good spill of burnt oil and it's been left to sit for a few weeks then i also think power washing aint gonna do the job

Give it a light washing with fairy liquid and scrub the area(s)
Not the best solution but it's worth a shot for no outlay. It removed (or lightened) a few spots on my drive.

There`s this cleaner made by cemotline for "spill kits" not sure how good it is.

Thanks guys.
What's that expression? No good deed goes unpunished?
I shall attempt the Fairy liquid first. Otherwise I suppose it will have to be the Blacktop stuff.
Rough esitmate for 180 sq metres?

Or use a proper oil digester like OT8 to get rid of the diesel before re-coating as described above.

Don't use OT8 it is not meant for Tarmac, Bio-techices do a Tarmac friendly one here is a link.

www.oiltechnics.co.uk/Oil_Stains/Road/index.html
You will still be left with darker patches but this should pull most of the oil out.

I should have thought of that, Roger. I completely forgot we were talking about a bitmac driveway: I was miles away on a CBP driveway!
