It appears that the previous owners of our mid terraced property have increased the level of the concrete patio, so that it now bridges the damp proof course. The floor level of the kitchen is now the same height as the patio. What is the best remedy to this?

Do I have to reduce the level of the concrete patio by removing the excess concrete or can it be done more easily and cheaply? The patio covers an area approx 6m2

What cost would I be looking at?

The only option is to break out the patio and get it down to a level at least 150mm below dpc/internal floor level.

It's a tricky one to cost - not many contractors would be interested in taking on a job like this, so it will probably have to be DIY, which means the cost is limited to the price of a skip to cart away the rubble, plus the hire of any tools you might need. Then, add on the cost of a new patio. :)

Thanks, wpuld it be possible to add a dry are arrangement around the affected areas? I imagine this would be the cheapest option. What sort of contractor would I approach for this and has anyone got an idea as to cost?

I can't tell you whether it would definitely work, or what sort of price to expect, as I can't actually see the job. You need to ask two or three paving contractors and/or general builders to take a look for you.
