Hi

Briefly 40m2 patio is running off onto grass. Grass distance from patio to drainage ditch is about 12 meters.

Will this run off going down hill over grass into the ditch be too much for the grass or should it percolate acceptably?

Cheers

I've got 24m (8x3) patio falling onto my lawn. No probs upto now. Suppose it depends on ground condition of topsoil.

Our 30sqm patio runs off into our lawn. The lawn itself is only 40sqm, but reasonably well sloped down off into a hill.

Even with the torrential rain we had last week/2 weeks ago never had any issues with drainage.

A good 'guide' is that every square metre of paving needs a half square metre of lawn or open garden to drain, and that the 'leach field', if we can call it that, neds to be not more than 5m from the paving. So, in effect, if you double the area of garden lying within 5m of the paving, that will give you a reasonable guide as to how much paving can drain onto said garden.
