I've just built a small (2x3m Kidney shaped) garden pond for wildlife using a flexible pondliner. One end of it is a shallow beach which leads to the lowest point of the pond edge in order that any rain overflow can be directed this way.
Any overflow will run onto a slight downhill slope into the rest of the garden. This is currently bare soil leading to the lawn/veg patch about 3 metres away. The soil appears to have a clay content but has never flooded as far as I am aware.

I guess my question is what sort of drainage do I need there if any?

Thanks in advance
