I have an old cottage built in 1670 which i have renovated. The drive is my next project currently overgrown grass, however when I dig a fork in I hit stone around 6 inches deep. I would either like to unearth this or either use as a base for gravel. Being the experts what would you recommend and if keeping the cobbles what would be the best way to do this.
many thanks

obviously get rid of the grass first then have a look at what state the cobbles are in.

Why haven't you cleared a sq m. or so, to see what's there - or am I missing something?

you're right i will do this weekend. if cobbles in a reasonable state would you just scrape off soil in between then just use weedkiller or put sand in gaps ??
