Can anyone advice me about installing a gulley next to the house.
I am wondering if it can be bedded onto compacted type 1 with concrete or do they need to have a footing below the type 1?
Many thanks

Aslong as the compacted stone is down tight, then the gulley could be sat on it, then surrounded by concrete. I would only do this if the gulley is situated in a non-traffic area.
But, ideally, it should be sat and surrounded within concrete.

Thanks dave sorry for leaving u hanging I forgot about this post.
For very light foot traffic would a 40mm concrete bed and han ching either side be ok?
It will be tight next to the free edge of a patio with astro turf on the opposite side

I would use sharp sand rather than ballast at 40mm thick
