Splash strip and patio fall back to house

Foul and surface water, private drains and public sewers, land drains and soakaways, filter drains and any other ways of getting rid of water.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post , so hello and thank you, as I'm embarking on sorting my builders abomination of a garden out, so I'm looking for some wise advice if possible. I'm completely Novice to garden work but I am in a trade so I understand the working of most of the materials.

The builder laid a two course patio that falls to the house but it is separated by a splash strip. It all looks a bit dodgy to be honest. The problem is that the garden is also sloping back to the house. Someone came along and added 4 more rows of patio that now looks like the Alps. They basically dug the grass up and laid flags, using some flags upright to retain the grass that was left overhanging from cutting it back.

My idea is to take the flags up clean them and reuse, but to obviously do it properly. The only problem is the fall back to the house. It will have to fall back to the house because if it falls towards the grass then the level from the patio to grass will be about 5/6 inches! (I'm planning on using sleepers to make steps here). So, with the fall back to the house in mind and the slash strip in place, I was thinking I would remove the slash strip and replace it with some proper ground gulleys/draining (I'm a plumber). Can I do this right back to the house?

So my question really after a long winded gas is:

Can I replace the splash strip with proper drainage connecting to the rain water gulleys at either end of the wall and have the patio slopping back to the house?

Many thanks!
