I live in Cyprus and for a number of years have had problems with a large, tiled, roof patio that leaks rainwater and creates damp on the ceiling of the lounge below.
When we dug it up the patio we found no T's or elbows had been used for the existing drain pipes under the tiles, the pipe had just been cut and bent at 90 deg. The membrane seal (Blackjack) used over the concrete, forming the base for the tiles, is also of poor quality, any rain water leaking from the drainage pipes floods over the membrane and seeks out any holes.

I intend having a new rain water drain system fitted, then the whole patio re-sealed over the existing tiles and new tiles laid.

I have been looking at using the Aco drainage system but as there is not much depth of concrete making up the roof patio, I need a drainage system that is shallow (around 80mm) and has end pipe connectors (2"??) to join the drain channels to each other and to the corner units (I intend spacing the drain channels rather than being continuous and joining each section with pipe, if possible).

Is Aco suitable and which type? There are Aco agents in Cyprus but they appear to have a very limited range of products.

I can arrange for transport of components from the UK to Cyprus if required.

Do you recommend the use of a jointing compound when joining Aco or similar products?

Do you have any other suggestions to provide a suitable solution?

I would appreciate your assistance.

I've got 3 slim aco left, they have stainless gratings. I'll measure depth in a bit but they are not very deep, about what you require. But Cyprus is a bit far for delivery ???

Thanks for the reply
As well as top entry, FreeDeck uses an open sided drainage channel system to collect rainwater. As the finished tiled patio will be sealed, I am looking at collecting the run-off water with a top entry only drain system.
Aco have recommended the Modular 125 stainless steel drainage system. Although they do not have a 50mm horizontal pipe connection as standard, they say they can have these connectors fitted at the factory (all in stainless steel). 304 St. St. seems like overkill for a patio drain system and I am reasonably sure my budget will not extend to customised St. St. fittings.

Hi Sean

The problem seems to be getting Aco channel that has end connectors with a 2" (50mm) pipe fitting, as I do not want the channel laid in a continuous run. I did a sketch of what I had in mind but I cannot see any facilities to add a file from my PC to these notes.
What type/model is the Aco channel you have and I will check on the Aco website what fittings are available for this style.
