Hi!

I've used the Paving Expert site many times, but this is the first time I have a question that I can't find an answer to on the website itself...Hopefully you guys can help!

I need to remove some foul drainage that has backed up. I'm worried about the mess that might be created when it is lifted out of the ground! Does anyone have any tips on how to do this and how to dispose of the material? I'm thinking:
- Bung downstream chamber and jet from upstream to gather any material in chamber.
- Pump material out into tank for disposal
- Remove drains

Does this sound like a sensible idea? I'm much more used to the installation side of things rather than removal..!

Whats the blockage? have you had a camera down?

I used to expose the pipe (make plenty of room) and gauge where blockage is from the jetting hose. Pop pipe downstream and pop pipe up stream and get outta there! It should clear the system then cut pipe and replace. Obviously dont let anything that may cause another blockage get into the down stream pipe, pop a smallish hole. Maybe a bit cowboyish but it did the job!

Cheers - thing is it's not a blockage as such - the ground has moved so that sections of the drain are at "negative" gradient so the system has just not been draining at all.

I need to replace the lot, so it all needs to come up anyway. It's just a matter of how to do it without making a mess!

Blimey how come the ground has shifted? Is the pipe still intact? Does it go septic tank or mains?

All goes to mains - just bad ground, and it looks like the drains were poorly bedded and laid VERY flat to begin with so there wasn't a lot of wriggle room for movement!

Just jet up stream past the problem area and bring it back slowly and let if flow down stream!

There is a drainage pro on here and he may give you some top tips!

jet the pipe from downstream to get rid of the shite. remove pipe and redo bedding to original fall and replace with old, or new depending on how bad it is. If there is lokely to be any broken pipe, or stones try and intercept them at downstream manhole.

As per above ......... jet system first and clear and or pump out as much as possible

Excavate just downstream of the collapse/obstruction so that when the mother load moves it has somewhere to go, no point taking it off site when you can send it where it was intended to go in the first place.
