not sure but all the drives we do in stockport we comply, when you come to sell you have to declare all work has been done to regs.... legal nightmare there if you dont

Who is going to know when a particular driveway was resurfaced/enlarged etc?

Never been a problem for me when buying or selling property.

SUDS doesn't seem to be enforced or any notice taken of by many in Taunton Deane anyway.

I designed and Ken built a drive in Marple Bridge that was checked out by Stockport MBC and they were both unbelievably fussy over minor detail while simultaneously not having a chuffing clue about how suds works.

They had us build a soakaway on the side of a 1-in-2 hill. If you went 2 metres along the street beyond the soakaway, you were lower than its base!

I know that Stockport, and several othe LAs are actively policing driveway compliance but it seems to be more a matter of finger-wagging rather than enforced remedial work or prosecution. In a very badly flawed piece of legislation, one of the biggest problems is that ALL liability lies with the property owner and none with the contractor, which allows the John Waynes out there to get away with it completely.

I took a photo of that job last week that shows the levels Stockport MBC were giving Tony arse ache over, if any one cares enough or is interested too see it, say the word and I’l ask me lad LLL to post the pic on my behalf.
