Hi. Not only has the cowboy 'landscape gardener' built right up to the DPC AND slanted the patio towards the house, I've found out he spot bedded because i lifted a flag. Whats the life span of a spot bedded patio or should the whole thing be done again? Its difficult cos ive already paid him his 3 grand now before i found out all this... Yes he is a company and not a gypsy.

To be honest iv seen spot bedding last years but it's not the best way. Seems to be the old school that spot bed.
As for the dpc that's just wrong. Get him back.
If you can post some pictures that would give a better idea and we could give you a few questions to ask.

Regardless of how long the spot bed will last, the dpc is the big issue here, it coukd lead to damp issues on the house. How big an area was it?

Spot bedding allows for freeze thaw in the voids effectively lifting the patio in a heavy frost and also makes a perfect home for rodents, you have a right to have a proper job done. Get him back and demand it's done right 150 below doc and on a full bed, if he blags you point him here, at building regs, and trading standards. He might actually learn something and start doing proper work
