Hi.

I am about to start doing the patio (indian sandstone) around my house but have an issue with levels. I know to keep the patio 150 mm below dpc but my problem is that I am converting an old out house which is near the house (1.5m) at the nearest point and the dpc level of the out house is a 150 mm lower than the house dpc. My plan is to keep the patio 150mm below the house and slope it towards the outhouse falling 75mm over 1.5m. I will put a linear drain along the outhouse which will be 75mm under the dpc of the outhouse. Does this sound ok?

I have read the info on the site and I appreciate it's not ideal. I prefer the thought of using the linear drains rather than having a "dry area arrangement" as I can see that getting full of leaves and other rubbish.

Also I have seen aco channels on eBay item no 270630464883 at a reasonable price. Is it worth paying a bit extra for the aco ones rather than the ones from plastic express? probably work out £25 extra for the aco ones.

Thanks

Jon

It shouldn't cause any problems. You don't have to have it 150mm below dps for the house, that's just the minimum, you could drop it to 200 or 250 then you wouldn't have a steep slope towards the outhouse.
The other way you could do it, is to have a channel along the outhouse and put the drain at the bottom of the channel so the drains still sit 150mm below the dpc.
