Hi All,
A newbie here and in need of some advice or suggestions please.
Basically i'm planning on block paving the front of my house, total area is 25sq metre.
As my house is a end terrance house and is slightly higher than other houses, so therefore the front will have a slight slope.
I've dugged up the front see link:

There is a man hole as shown in the above link, but the problem is, its not deep enough for me to connect the drain channels, as the man hole is slightly higher up as to where the drain channels will be located

I've also read on this site about 'soakaways' but I still don't understand the concept behind it.
Can anyone advice or provide some suggestions on how the best way would be for me to connect the outlets for the drain channels ?

My first question is what is the ground like there? Free draining or clay?
Your best solution is a soak away and the overflow from it piped to this manhole - I take it this is a storm water system?

The problem is that the manhole is slightly higher up, As the paving will be in a slight slope. So the rain channel drain pipe would be in a slight angle from bottom to top where the man hole is.seanandruby wrote:you would have to be 5 metres from your house or surrounding properties for a soakaway.
