got 2 stone sett projects to do, 1 about 20m2 the other 90m2, no rush on them really but with work not exactly flooding in thought i might have a go. Does anyone have opinion as to whether to dry joint or wet mix with lot of frost proofer?

Hi you might like to try GftK Mortars from NCC - contact Gary at www.nccinaction.co.uk - their mortars can be used in the rain and will cure down to +3, as if you use any sand and cement combination the water cement ratio or accelerator will undoubtedly lead to cracking -visible now or later. Tony saw it being used at 5-10 C in a thunderstorm last January with no problems. expensive - but cost effective and it works!Hope this helps

Hi
We have Ronascreed Powder (use in place of Portland cement) which cures down to 0oC in a few hours, and Monoset Powder which does the same to -10oC in 1-2 hours.
More expensive than Portland, but if you've got to do it....

Dry jointing with setts NEVER EVER works. It's shite and it WILL fail.

should of read semi-dry, but get the "point"! have actually had a contact from a company called Ever readt mortar mix, T: 08450 667 827 who will supply small batches (min .5 m3) to any spec with frost proofer and dyed so may give that a try just for consistancyand save on mess. They also say they will supply a paving mix using sharp sand to any spec again in small batches. i believe they are Nationwide, I have used them for brickies mix, good delivery time, good consistancy and reasonable price, £40.00 a tub (.5m3)
