Hi there,
I need to tap into existing SW system in two places, once with a gully for a small section of guttering and once for a 6m stretch of linear drainage servicing a patio. As I understand it, it is not essential to use traps for SW systems and for various reasons, doing without them would make my job more straightforward. But I would appreciate second opinions on this, how likely/unlikely are unpleasant smells for a SW system? Or are there any other reasons why traps are particularly advisable? Your advice much appreciated, many thanks.

If you are 100% certain it is a SW system you are tapping into then there is NO need to use a trap.
