Problems draining path - Standing water does not drain from path

Hi
Could somebody please offer some advice.
I have a problem with standing water on a path at the rear of my property. the problem is due to the path sloping away from the house and meeting a garden that slopes towards the house. the grass is approx 5" above the level of the path edge and we have put log roll along to edge it with some gravel. I do have a rodding outlet at the far end of the path which actually ends about 12 inches above the path level in a kind of border. I have done some searching but wanted to double check before doing anything.
Would it be ok to create a "collector drain" between the edge of the path and the grass and run the the corrugated pipe along the length of the path to terminate into the plastic rodding pipe.
If so, does the collector drain need to be very deep as I don't like excavating too deep beside my house.

A photo please. Your log roll will rot in no time being submerged in water for long periods, you may need a much sturdier retainer for the 5 inch rise to the grass. it could be an option to use the existing pipework. is your path 150, or more below damp?

Thanks for your reply, I'll try and get a photo sorted.
Yes the path starts 150mm below the dpc at the house and has a falll to the garden so is probably nearer 200 below at the grass.
I take your point about the log roll though, it's a bit of a make do situation for this year until I can afford something better.
I'm kind of running out of funds now.
