Hi all

Finally getting round to doing my own driveway but need to lower the height of the manhole on the front part of the drive, as it is a brick built chamber stepped in at the top it looks like I am going to require a Cover Slab ?
I have contacted all the local builders merchants TP, Benchmark, etc.. in Tameside, but they have all drawn a blank !
Can anyone recommend a supplier or is it feasible to cobble something together ?
The slab needs to be around 1200 x 900 minimum and take a 600 x 450 recessed tray

You would not normally put a cover slab on a brick built chamber, normally you would corbell the brickwork over to fit the lid size, coverslabs are only made in 900,1050,1200,1500 diameter concrete thats why the BM's cant help you

you could form your own slab insitu with concrete if you feel confident in doing so i have done a lot in this way,
probilly the easy way would be to get a off cut from a steel sheet 5mm thick and lay over the manhole to cover the opening not needed,a local engineering works would probilly help you out for a little cash token...... :) then lay it over and cover with concrete and bed lid to suit as required hpe this helps MSH :)
